Partnership Spotlight: Dominican University’s Occupational Therapy Program

We’re proud to announce a new academic partnership with Dominican University, bringing the next generation of occupational therapists into our community to learn, grow, and serve alongside our team.

Through this collaboration, graduate students from Dominican University’s Occupational Therapy (OT) program will complete fieldwork placements at The Inspired Community Project, gaining hands-on experience in a setting deeply rooted in equity, inclusion, and neurodiversity-affirming care.

Learning in the Heart of the Bronx

This partnership gives OT students the opportunity to work directly with our children and families, supporting early childhood development through compassionate, evidence-based practices. With guidance from our expert clinicians and educators, students will engage in meaningful work that addresses real-world challenges and advances health equity in underserved communities.

Why It Matters

At TICP, we believe training the future workforce is essential to creating lasting change in behavioral health care. Dominican University shares our vision of preparing culturally responsive professionals who are committed to justice, inclusion, and community impact. Together, we are building a pipeline of professionals equipped to make a difference.

A Stronger Future, Together

This partnership is a reflection of what’s possible when higher education and community-based care come together. We are thrilled to welcome Dominican’s OT students to our classrooms and sensory gym — and to be part of their journey toward becoming thoughtful, empowered practitioners.

Grant-Funded Partnership with Dominican University Advances Workforce Equity

We are excited to announce that The Inspired Community Project has received grant funding to support a transformative partnership with Dominican University’s Occupational Therapy (OT) program. This collaboration expands access to high-quality clinical placements while building a more diverse and community-rooted behavioral health workforce.

Closing Gaps in Access—and in Opportunity

With this grant, we are able to provide supervised fieldwork experiences for graduate-level OT students from Dominican University right here in the Bronx. These students will gain practical, hands-on experience working with neurodiverse children in a setting that affirms their dignity, honors their identities, and centers their families.

In return, our children and families benefit from expanded services, fresh perspectives, and compassionate care rooted in both academic excellence and cultural humility.

Investing in the Future of Pediatric Care

This grant allows us to:
✔ Provide clinical mentorship and supervision at no cost to students or families
✔ Expand our occupational therapy programming using a strengths-based, equity-focused lens
✔ Build long-term pathways for diverse professionals to enter—and remain in—the field of early childhood behavioral health

We are deeply grateful for the support that made this partnership possible. With Dominican University by our side, we’re not just meeting today’s needs—we’re building tomorrow’s solutions.
